Fireplace Remodel With Stone

Our previous house was a historic 1929 bungalow. The original fireplace was brick, overlayed with stone and plaster. Almost every ugly house (and many perfectly nice houses) have dark, dingy, dirty brick fireplaces. In addition, you can see on the bottom right of the last before” picture that the walls were painted a bright mint green.fireplace remodel

Now, it will be bricked almost to the ceiling with an arch above the fireplace. If you go with a traditional fireplace design then it is going to fit into almost any environment, but on ocassions you will need to do something a little bit more contemporary. If you have a fireplace mantel, replacing it with something a little different can have a major impact on your living room.

Once we have the pieces cut we then need to square the sides to the window casing. We chose a field stone with various colors from Sunset Stone and in order to get all the pieces to fit into this giant puzzle, I went out into the garage and used some of the kid’s sidewalk chalk to draw out the areas we needed to cover with stone.fireplace remodel

Picking an interesting color that goes well with the room but adds a little spice can be an excellent way to transform your living room in no time at all. Dedicate your fireplace mantel Christmas decorations to a collection of handmade crafts, sentimental gifts or special items from holidays your family has shared in the past.fireplace remodel

The use of authentic stone in any space provides a solid foundation to build a beautiful and well rounded design. We reengineered and spanned the full width of the house in the kitchen, family and dining room areas to eliminate the original bearing walls. Plus, wrapping your windows in black trick your eyes into seeing only the window—increasing the impact of your outdoor spaces.
